HD Forest meeting ministers at LCC events

In March the Nordic Chambers of Commerce in Latvia organised a chance for the members to meet with the new Latvian Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Juris Puce and Minister of Justice Janis Bordans. 

During these meetings Mr. Puce highlighted a number of challenges that require development and public awareness. J.Puce pointed out the good examples of best-practices where comapnies on their own have invested in minimizing the environmental impacts of their production. The minister also highlighed Latvia's achievements in the increased use of renewable energy (including wood chips) - an area where Latvia aims at becoming one of the leading countries in the EU.

Minister of Justice J.Bordans among other things emphasized the need for reform in Latvia’s Judicial system directed at increasing its efficiency and strengthening trust in Latvia’s court system.

HD Forest participated in both meetings which were good networking opportunities - and a chance to raise awareness of issues related to forestry for the relevant ministers.
